OT networks in utility substations and manufacturing plants often rely on older, legacy equipment. This focus on legacy systems stems from a priority on maintaining production uptime. Shutting down a location for network or security updates can be extremely challenging. Over time, the mindset of "if it’s not broken, don’t fix it" has become the norm.

However, with cybercriminals increasingly targeting critical infrastructure, critical infrastructure owners must adopt security solutions like OT risk and anomaly detection. The problem? Deploying these solutions is difficult due to legacy media connections such as 100Base-FX and 100Base-LX, making upgrades nearly impossible without significant obstacles.

Garland Technology’s 100BASE-FX and 100BASE-LX Hardware Data Diodes are engineered to help make OT security sensors compatible with the network. Additionally, these Hardware Data Diodes can aggregate or breakout unidirectional copies of the inputs in Ports A and B.
